Software Engineer – Embedded Avionics

We are looking for a software engineer to join our small engineering team in Edinburgh, developing the next generation of certified avionics products.
You’ll be designing and implementing embedded software in C/C++, working on systems that are installed and flown in aircraft around the world. This is an opportunity to work on technically challenging products where quality, reliability and attention to detail really matter.

The successful candidate will have,

  • A degree in Computer Science or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience developing embedded software in C/C++.
  • A careful and methodical approach to software engineering.

You’ll be comfortable working in an environment that includes:

  • Formal requirements capture and traceability.
  • Compliance with design and coding standards.
  • Clear and thorough technical documentation.
  • Team working, design reviews and peer code reviews.

Design Quality Assurance Engineer

We’re looking for a detail-oriented Design Quality Assurance Engineer to join our small team in Edinburgh, working on our next-generation avionics products and supporting our existing certified products.

Trig develops aircraft electronics which are certified to international technical standards, so quality and design assurance are an important part of everything we do. You will help ensure our engineering processes, documentation and development activities meet certification requirements and provide the evidence needed to support certification.

You will work closely with our engineering team and external regulatory colleagues, including EASA, and will need to be comfortable with:

  • Reviewing engineering processes, procedures and work products to ensure they meet certification and quality requirements.
  • Working across software, hardware and mechanical engineering disciplines throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Working with external regulators and coordinating the evidence required to support product certification.
  • Supporting engineering change activities and identifying opportunities to improve our processes.

You should have a STEM-based degree or equivalent, together with experience in quality assurance and/or engineering within an organisation with robust product lifecycle processes.

Experience of aerospace or another highly regulated industry would be an advantage, as would experience of working with external regulators or quality management system auditors.

Excellent written and spoken communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work across a multidisciplinary engineering team and manage complex details.
